powering a bi-pap (cpap) machine

Still trying to understand where some folks got the idea that their Respironics will not operate BOTH the CPAP and the humidifier on a 12v power point plug. I have been doing it for years with both an M series and a PSR-1 series. Have NEVER had a problem and the system goes all night without fail.

I bought a 200W pure sine wave inverter and run my CPAP/humidifier off it with no problem. I have only used it one night at a time without hooking up and moving so I don't know how long it would run.

Starter jumper battery thingee NOT big enough to use with humidifier period. Too much draw. You can purchase a l-o-n-g cigarette lighter extension cord. I recommend grafting 16 gauge wire to lengthen to your bed if necessary. Travel trailers can tap into the light switch. Been done a hundred times if it's been done once. DO NOT LEAVE THE UNIT CONNECTED when charging the battery with anything else except the rig's converter. Unplug when engine running.

Just curious, why don't you want to tap into your current battery? My CPAP without heat uses very little power. It sounds like you are just looking to use it here and there. In that case, your current battery should be fine.

i figure it will be used in case we stop at a walmart along the road. it can be charged the next day cruising down the road. would a portable battery be ok to use indoors and would it work??

My marine battery is toward the front of my class c. I'd just as soon not hook up an invertor under my rv and run an extension cord thru the window. that's why i'm looking for a portable battery solution. i'd be willing to get one specifically for a cpap but the prices for these are just plain stupid. amazon has one for $280 with a whole 6 month guarantee. could almost by 3 from harbor freight.

i have been told i must use this junk.
been on it for some months now (close to a year),
i see NO better nights rest then before.
so if i miss a week or three no big deal.

battery power solutions sells cpap battery packs. I have one, will run my cpap for 3 nights before needing recharging.

Or just run it off your house battery. should last many many nights, especially if you run it off 12V which most cpap machines have an input for.

I have a Ion battery pack the VA gave me and can charge it with power or of the tv socket by my bed. It came with power and 12 volt cord and I can get two days of the battery pack or just plug into the tv socket no need for inverter.

we have a class c. i was wanting something that could charge during the day going down the road and be used only 1 night at a time. honestly, it would be used for the times we are travelling a couple days to our destination. i'd like to just be able to pull over and sleep at a walmart. our marine battery is a little hard to get to to run an inverter. i really don't want to have to try to figure out where to put a second marine battery.

I used a cpap and I bought a $24 12v power cable and I have a cigarette lighter plugin in the bed room and I use it as a power source. no water as stated prior by the post before mine but I just use Vaseline for moisture control. I really don't think I have had an issue with the battery over the years. I use two 6v batteries hooked up to make 12v's and they have been well worth their weight in gold
