PPL Parts pricing...WOW

I had an issue with my Full Wall Slide. I needed to replace a spur gear. I have been dreading the job but the last time I pulled the slide in I lost another gear on that spur gear. It has 20 teeth & 5 where gone!

I first wanted to be SURE I had the proper gear on order so I climbed underneath & counted the teeth on the spur gear. Once I had all the information on the gear I started calling around...

1st call was PPL parts and was told the part could be ordered & it would be shipped from the manufacturer. I was very happy that the 1st call was successful and ordered the part. The gear was 45.00 and I ordered it.

Now, since the next BIG outing was a week away I decided to order a 2nd gear from another source. I was afraid that PPL would drag their feet.

Of ALL PLACES ordering the part from Fleetwood was only $20.00!!! Yes, $20.00 for the gear and about $5 shipping.

Part arrived within 4 days. I spen about 3 hours installing the gear. Had to have the slide fully in while replacing the gear. Had to drop the fron half of the converter rack so that I could tilt it down & get to the actual gear.

All in all it went VERY well. Not a job for the average DIY type. Had to use a C clamp to get the rollers & other hardware installed.

I'm still waiting for the PPL part, I did see an email Friday stating that it was ready to ship.

Now the slide goes in/out w/o ANY issues. Just need to replace a slide seal.

Never ordered any parts from PPL. Would like to hear other experiences with PPL.

I have a Splindide 2000S thats starting to look like it needs a new hot/cold solenoid manafold. Anybody have a good lead for Splendide parts?

Thanks all

  • I ordered a fridge from PPL. It arrived damaged. Lucky for me I noticed the damage before it was unloaded. I refused to accept delivery. I called PPL and and was told that I did the right thing. PPL then shipped another fridge. This one arrived undamaged.

I was more than pleased with the price and PPL.
  • Not saying you're wrong but like bearings, not all gears are made alike. The one you replaced your failed one with is most likely the same quality as the one that failed. I'd rather buy a German made bearing than one made in China....just sayin...now, if both bearings are identical, you made the right choice.....Dennis
  • I have had good service at fair prices from PPL.
  • If price matters to anyone (and it does to most), ya gotta go out onto the open internet and shop all over. There's about 10 or so popular online RV parts vendors like PPL (Tweetys, MakariosRV, etc) and prices can vary considerably. Some are noticeably higher on the same item but can be considerably less on other items. Gotta shop on the basis of item cost + shipping but some of the sites make it more time consuming. I just hate feeling taken advantage of. One reason why I don't use CW...
  • As with ANY item........shop around.

With the Internet this is easier than getting your morning coffee.

PPL has great pricing/service on some items (rv water pumps, rv fridge parts)

Adventure RV, Tweety's, DrysonOnLine, E-Trailer, etc etc

    Shop, shop around......
  • I have had good and fast service from Hannarv.com and no shipping costs either. I do not know if they have your part but you can check with them.
