Humorous little story. About 50 years ago I was working part time repairing high end stereo equipment. A Teac tape recorder came in that had a bad fuse. A replacement fuse blew instantly. Before I could start troubleshooting my service manager came by and asked what was wrong. Told him it blew the fuse. He said no time to troubleshoot just jumper the fuse and see what smokes! I said I would not do that, thought he was going to fire me. He said move over and he bypassed the fuse with clip leads. He then plugged it in --- Bang --- it sounded like a fire cracker going off. The sound and smoke emptied the shop. When we got back to look at the recorder the insides were covered in shrapnel. He had to but the customer a new recorder. Jumper the fuse at your own risk!
