Thanks Drew, I just need to re-arrange my brain a little. :(
I was told the rule for having the "battery fuse" within 18" of the pos battery post came from cars, where they might be in a crash and have a battery short.
This explanation was from a guy in a car audio shop where they have amplifiers and speakers etc on the battery, something like inverters etc in an RV. ( I was in there buying ANL fuses for my inverter wire)
