My trailer came with a basic charger/converter and cheap 12V battery. Want to install 2 T-105’s AGM’s. I assume the factory charger/converter won’t be enough to charge the Trojans correctly. I will be dry-camping a lot with good generator. What is the proper Progressive Dynamics charger/converter to charge the Trojans?Thanks!

What brand of converter do you have? AGMs do have a slightly different charging algorithm.. is that what you're asking about?

The T-105 isn't an AGM, it's flooded. The PD converter that I have won't deliver the charge voltage that Trojan specifies for the T-105. If you're really going to dry camp a lot and in sunny places, you might want to consider solar charging. It takes a lot of generator hours to fully charge batteries.

However, that would only be needed to do the "finish charge". Your 14.4 would do for normal recharging, but do have the Charge Wizard to be sure you can get it to do 14.4 instead of just 13.6.If you fast charge at say a 25% rate, that would be 54.25a so a typical 55 amp converter should be just right.

Are 4 T-105 AGM’s overkill?

We do have the generator and we’ll be dry-camping for a few days at a time.

Having more reserve power would be great.

I assume an 80-watt charger could take 4 T-105 AGM’s to full charge?

I posted a reply that answered all that this morning showing third reply at 1017am on my feed. Apparently nobody saw it? Did anybody? (I have been having problems with missing posts in threads for months, but this is the first where one of mine seems to be missing.)

Since I have a large generator I won’t be going wrong by putting in a PD-9280a-14.8 correct?

Looks like 80 amps is the biggest on Best Converter.

Am also going to see what kind of solar I can install.

Solar doesn’t connect into the PD-9280a by chance?

Pay attention to what ktmrfs wrote. A pair of CG220 AGM batteries can eat 100 amps and then-some and then there are HOTEL LOADS that subtract from the gross product delivery. Some folks may smile listening to their generator I am not one of them...

Hey you guys are VERY helpful.

It’s an 8000w Generac generator.

I started another thread about our rig being solar ready.

I can add solar panel but am not sure what other things I need to do this besides solar panel.
