Progressive Dynamics (PD9260CV) Question.

We just got home from boondocking in the Sisters area of Oregon. The temps were in the high 90's and low 100's. My Honda 2k generator will run our Atwood Air Command heat pump on A/C.

Except when the converter comes online to feed power to the batteries, the genny kicks off line.

So, my question can the PD 9260 be locked into a lower power output mode? This would allow me to run the A/C and feed some power into the batteries. Right now I have to turn off the "converter" breaker to run the A/C, then turn off the A/C and run the converter to charge the batteris.

We have two 6 volt Trojan batteries. We have the factory converter on a 2006 Cougar 294RLS bumper pull.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate your input.

A bigger generator is not an option, but would solve this issue.

  • Thanks to all that have responded. I ordered the Progressive Dynamics PD4655V 55 AMP Converter from Bestconverter.com after talking to Randy.

This model will fit into the space where the WFCO 8955 now sits.

I know that I won't be able to run the A/C and the battery charger at the same time with only a 2K (surge) generator. Will watch for a good deal on a second Honda.

I concur. The problem is the power required by the 9260 and the A/C together exceeds the capacity of the 2k generator. Solution is keep doing as you are doing since you say another/larger generator is not in the budget.

I have a PD92600and with the pendent (yes you can use a pendent with it, but different than the previous pendent) you can cycle through the modes. to go to the non boost (blinking light) mode
  • Two honda EU2000i generators paired when necessary would solve the problem also. One honda 2000 running an AC is running that generator near maximum at all times, not good for the generator.

Get a second one and make a pairing cable.
  • I did, they're closed on the east coast. Will call tomorrow.

That being said, I've had better luck on this forum than with most manufacturers.

    Thanks.
