Progressive Industries Surge Protector New Lifetime Warranty

They didn't just change the warranty, they changed it in preparation for a reduction in build quality.

As soon as they're sold out of current inventory they'll start selling the new lower end hardware.

At least my suspicion.

TRC-Surge Guard make similar products BUT their warranty is no better, they have terrible tech service and their portable units are NOT repairable -------case is factory sealed (glued shut) no access w/o busting seam open and then no parts available from TRC.
Call TRC and see what kind of 'help' you get-----hahaha

So I will buy a PI Unit again IF my 11 year old one should fail and end up not being repairable.

But this is typical of what happens when the larger acquires the smaller. The larger typically has more bean counters and litigators, so this is what you get.

Power systems LLC has done it with others besides Progressive industries....Blue Sea, Marinco, Sperry, etc.

These types of happenings run rampant in the RV Industry of which Power Systems LLC is only on the fringes of.

Lippert Components is a good example. Do a search for all they acquirred. The MO is a little more involved. Acquire, cheapen the product in every way imaginable, tighten the grip on replacement parts, and then increase the price of same. Everything they make, market, distribute, or are associated with is garbage.

How about Forest River, Thor Industries, Dometic ?

So they were acquired and changed the warranty terms. If you purchased under the previous terms you have a warranty you were aware of when you purchased. Purchase now you get the warranty in effect at this time so if you don't like it don't buy it.

If you think that warranty sucks just read any that come with a new RV in that huge packet, including the one in the large book, because those are about the worst warranties ever written.

if the warranty is that bad, maybe they will have to lower the price so they can sell a few next year, reminds me of sears when K mart bought them out. their extended warranties weren't worth the paper they were written on

ScottG - call them and they will tell you how to adjust it on the phone. There’s a small pot to adjust it. Mine read high when new and would often shut off power in the middle of the night when campground voltages went higher. I called/adjusted ours in May 2017. I emailed them first and they told me to have the top off and a good voltmeter when I called. Been fine ever since. Hopefully, that still works.

One year - you mean warranty?
Since I installed it, I guess I have no warranty at all on my new PI. (and of course it's reading high.)

The SG has a far nicer display and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it will do everything the PI does. I especially don't like to support companies that pull this sort of thing.
Wish I had it to do over.
