Propane fridge not working as good

We have a 1999 trailer with a 2 way fridge. I only use it on propane setting.

Lat year, I could turn it on the night before we left, leave it set at 4, and be below freezing in the fridge. I would then turn it down to 2 for the rest of the trip and it work well to keep things between 0-5C

This year, doing that and the fridge does not seem to cool. I have to turn it to max to get it below 5C and keep it there.

I have tried to blow out the dust from the back. What should I check or other maintenance should I do before hiring a tech to fix it?
  • take off the gas orifice (usually unscrews easily) and blow it out with compressed air. and then blow out the tube to the burner. The orifice has an extremely tiny hole, easy for even a spider web to partially clog.

Then fire it back up. you should see a nice uniform blue flame.

Check the burner tube that rust from the chimney vent did not fall down and block the slots. Is the flame yellow or blue?
  • Check the vent out the top and make sure there is nothing blocking it. Bird or hornet nest or ??

Also, there is a sensor on the cooling fins inside the fridge at the back. It is adjustable to tweak the temperature. Check to make sure you didn't knock it off kilter with something you put in the fridge.
  • Since you've seen the back I assume there isn't any other kind of colorful deposits back there?
