I have dealt with phase separation in a professional capacity. I am skeptical of the part of that article where the author says that with proper equipment (in someone's barn?), you should not have any hazardous waste. That's a good one. Yes, in THEORY, you should have just watery grain alcohol. We would find cloudy, colored nastiness. You can throw it on your lawn, but not me.
I'm usually up for experiments, but this is IMO just a bad idea to try. After my professional experiences, it's the last thing I would want to do in my home garage. Just figure out how to live with the E10 and be done with it.
