  • In the case of the C40 controller, the Diversion method of voltage control (which can be used with solar as the source) is described here as a "shunt regulator", not like the "series regulator" of the PV control mode it has.

the distinction is that the shunt method does not suddenly disconnect like the series method does, which is ok with a solar panel but not with a windmill

You can use real or dummy diversion loads in this method it seems. The key is to have more load than the source can provide or you could lose your regulation.

  • For load DIVERSION not for heating a barn. Never let a photon go to waste. You haven't seen smoooooooth regulation until you've seen load diversion in action. If your panel load ratio is close you don't need this heater. If you sometimes have an excess amount of amp hours output from the panels put them to work.
  • you got to have about 2kw of panels to need to use that ?
well at least 1KW , fully charged batteries, and full sun

my 679w is not enough power to use it
