i have a toolbox full of HF hand tools - they are not my daily tools I have at home, but for the 5er, they work and they are satisfactory.
Crecent has made decent hand tools for years so as a brand, I think it will suffice (i recently purchased a diagonal cutter from Home Depot and it was a crescent) to replace my 20 year old crescent diagonal cutter.
I figure if I get 20 years out of a tool, I'm doing ok.
It's not an old school craftsman or a Snap On, but it's enough for you SIL to decide he needs to buy his own tools...
