Question for elec techs
I installed a 120v led light outside on the garage, and decided to switch the white wire, instead of the black (hot) wire. All worked fine, except for when it got dark, the light burned about 1/4 brig...

Switching the white wire is a BAD thing to do.
Why on earth did you come up with that idea in the first place ??
Let me come to fishins defense. First, he knows it was wrong and corrected it, let's get off his back. Second, 2 groups of people often make this mistake. RVers, and electronic techs. Ever check a an indicator lite on your dash that was not working, say engine oil pressure. I'll bet you'll find that the light in the dash is powered and the switch is grounded. In electronic panels, black is almost always ground and colored wires, including white, are +, so anyone coming from an auto repair or electronic background can easily make these errors.
