Hah hah, Gordon Three found the secret. I am purchasing two units so I'll have a backup in case one plays the Part of a Sioux telegraph office. You might want to check out SURPLUSCENTER.COM for a 2-watt 2K multi-turn potentiometer at a hard to resist price.
Re: The Vf of that Shottky 300-ampere rectifier block. I find it curious that it is rated at .7
It gets that rating under a I 150 load condition. Does not a Shottky rectifier exhibit a darned near linear Vf / I curve? I won the auction and the critter is mine, delivered for $15.00. I would *love* to see a Vf of around .4 at 30 amperes but cannot find anything of value with regard to this.
Now to find aggressive 120 vac muffin fans with ball bearings, tiny to fit atop the unit to suck air through that supply at high velocity. The unit has a fan. I want a freakin' hurricane.
Heh, heh, With the Shottky I wonder if I can tweak that voltage pot resistance upward a hundred ohms and gain back the rectifier Vf loss? Can it reach 16.0 volts at say 5 amps without screaming and death rattle?
