Questions: self drilling/ tapping screws for chassis work

I'm getting ready to install my underbelly cover -- there will be aluminum C channel beams (to support the foam panels and the coroplast under-skin) attached to the underside of the trailer's frame me...

Go to Fastenal and get some GOOD tapping screws, Cheap ones will cause you more grief than you can imagine. I have run good tapping screws into 1/4" steel with no pilot hole. It is not recommended. Use a backing washer also.
