Questions: self drilling/ tapping screws for chassis work

I'm getting ready to install my underbelly cover -- there will be aluminum C channel beams (to support the foam panels and the coroplast under-skin) attached to the underside of the trailer's frame me...

Chum lee, by drilling and tapping, you do not mean self tapping, right? Do you mean using a tap and die set to accommodate a threaded bolt or machine screw?

Just trying to make sure I am on the same page with you.
