Radiator Hose, 1999 Triton V-10

Hello Everyone -- It's time for new belt & hoses, and as you probably know, it's not easy looking up engine parts under "F53." I found the belt thanks to a previous thread here, but I'm not seeing any mention of the lower radiator hose.

1999 F53 brings up a *similar* but incorrect hose at the parts store. The incorrect one looks similar, including the two take-offs for the oil cooler, but the main hose is too short and shaped wrong (as I found out when I brought it home). It's probably just perfect for a Ford pickup truck...

By any chance, does anyone know a Motorcraft or other part number for the 1999 F53? I appreciate any help!

Hey Folks -- OP here, and problem solved. I'm not sure why I couldn't see past NAPA, but fordparts.com did the trick. I'm looking at the hose, and it sure looks like the right one. Thanks Chum lee!

By the way, Dutch's RockAuto hose is the one I brought home. Like I said, probably fits a pickup truck just fine. Anyway, we're off the to Ford dealer.

    Thanks again everyone.

Ahh! That's good to know then. Rock Auto is usually right on the money...

  • If you want to know the correct OEM part numbers (for comparison to Dayco, Goodyear, etc., or any other after market vendor) before you buy, go here:

    www.fordparts.com/Default.aspx

Go through the part identifier queue just like the guy behind the counter at the Ford dealer does. Ford usually has drawings of the original part and the assembly it fits into for your comparison.

99% of the time, if available, OEM Ford parts will be more expensive than after market parts, but, if you order the correct part number based on date of manufacture, VIN, year, model, engine, transmission, they WILL fit perfectly and WILL last as long as the original hoses. That said, many after market parts are better and cheaper, BUT, often they require some "field adjustment" to fit correctly. The choice is yours.

My question to you is; Are you sure it is a 1999 Triton V-10?
I ask because more likely than not your rig was built on a chassis one year older than the rig? Very common occurrence the Motorhome builder is allowed by law to use the model year of the coach when built by the MH manufacturer as the year
But I would take the VIN to a NAPA TRUCK STORE not the darn corner NAPA auto parts but a NAPA with a dedicated truck counter.

1999 was the first year the Triton V-10 was used on the F53 chassis. There were no 1998 F53's built...

    good to know

Sometimes you can find parts listed under F-550 instead of F-53
  • When I changed my upper and lower hoses...and the belt, i was advised to only use the FORD products from a Ford truck dealer. Reason (they said)? The aftermarket products really don't fit as well.

True? False? Somewhere in between? Don't know...but that's what I did...and do. (Every 30,000 miles)
