Ramcar 6v 225AH Batteries? (Fixed the name)

Sorry, I had the name wrong!

Local battery shop has some 6v batteries with "Cross Country" brand on them. The guy says they are Ramcar. He says 225 AH. (Same AH as T-105 and the new Interstates)

Price is good right now on these compared with local T-105 or Interstate 6v batt prices.

I didn't find anything about these 6v on the Internet just about Ramcar, but I am not so good at that. Anybody ever heard of these 6v batts? Any comments?

Thanks.

  • Thanks Mex. I didn't buy any yet if ever. My old 6s are fading but not quite ready to toss; could get another year out of them sort of.

I am thinking of tossing them this year instead of next if it makes more sense money-wise. A pair of these mystery 6s at $149 each now is about $100 less for a pair of the others now. Two pair is $200 less! No idea what next year's prices will be. Any new batteries will be the last set for me as an RVer I expect. As you well know--Age--time flies when you are having fun :(

Another option is to get two more AGMs for a total of four (100AH each) and use them back and forth between the camper and the trailer. I have always wanted to have AGMs in the trailer in the winter where I can keep them inside nice and warm so they then hold up their AHs. Makes up for them being only 100AH each at 25C, and in summer we have solar anyway, so who cares about the battery AH?

But then I still lose $200 because the AGMs are $250 each. Two AGMs cost $500, almost as much or more as four 6s. ($600 mysteries or $800 "regular" ones. Can$.)

    Decisions, decisions!
  • Mamma Bear Papa Bear, and Baby Bear.

I preferred the 220 amp hour whoaaaa mammma!

    Top charge them ASAP.
  • Had same spectrum as US Battery and Trojan. Used to be three models. Their 125's used to have green lids.
  • Sorry about the name screw-up. So far all I have found is "Cross Country" has a 6v and Ramcar (Various Asian countries)says they rebrand as Federal among other names, but "Federal" comes out as USB with their 2200s etc. Argghh! Can't find this 6v "225AH" The store guy said they were made in California but that can't be right. ?

Oops Mex says in another thread they do make them in California. But where are the spec sheets?

RACAL is an electronics firm.. THey made the Modems, interfaces and teletypes we used at work for quite some time, and the teletype cards we used when we went to PC based terminals...

The electronics are top quality,, Industrial quality (We were an "Industrial level user" that is Governmental agency) I'd suspect the batteries are House branded top quality as well.. I'd not hesitate to buy them if the price is right.

Did a quick check on-line and found the RACAL name on some Army Surplus Sites...

Couldn't find any 6V 225AH batteries with the RACAL name...

  • Not me. But I have heard of a bathroom scale that can be tucked under one arm. Trojan's famous alias to an embossed maroon jar and lid is a white jar with red lid for T-105.
