I appreciate the responses. I've talked to a Winnebago dealer and they suggest removing the trim around the slide. Then remove the stopper behind the trim. The slide will then extend beyond the camper and I will be able to get to the carpet. I've taken a look at DIYing it and don't think I'm qualified. The wood is dry so I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm not overly enthused about thy either. But I think it's all I can do right now.
