You may have the converter on the rig's frame, same as battery neg is on the frame, so it is not across the shunt.
YES! That is correct....Everything in the Palomino camper is grounded to the copper gas tubing and the skin of the camper. (Everything else is wood or non-conductive material)
The battery negative is only connected to the shunt with a short piece (12") of 4g wire. The other side of the shunt has another 12" piece of 4g wire to a isolated terminal post that every negative wire in the camper is connected to. Therefore the Trimetric unit "sees" the converter as well as the Sunsaver controller. When I use the Black and Decker battery charger, I do indeed connect directly to the battery. I understand why I should be doing as you do and have this also run through the shunt to capture all charging current.
