Maybe I'm not using the Trimetric properly......
According to Bogart Engineering, the maker of the Trimetric it will read the following:
“Percent Full” (“State of charge”) of your batteries, so you can see if you need to charge them more, or check that overall usage is less than your charging resources.
Volts of the batteries, for example to check that they are being charged at proper voltage.
Energy going in, or out of your batteries, measured in Amps or Watts, so you can see that your charging sources are charging properly, or how much current your loads are using..
How many days since the batteries were fully charged: to remind you to not wait too long between fully charging your batteries to maximize their life.
The "Energy going in an out of your batteries" is simply a + or - reading. At all times my Trimetric reads -.30 amps as the Trimetric unit itself and the gas and CO2 detectors draw this much current. I've never seen a + "X" reading.
Unfortunately, my truck camper is forced to be stored in a very shady spot on my property, so I rarely appreciate the advantage of my solar system unless I'm actually out camping. But my system does keep the battery charged with this .3amp drain.
