- tenbearExplorerI mounted my camera inside my rear window. Here are a couple of photos.

The display I had simply replaced my rear view mirror.
The wire that came with the camera was short and I spliced in a length of 2 conductor cable. - fcooperExplorer III removed an old Intec black & white system and installed color monitor with 2 cameras. Pictures and writeup can be downloaded from the files section of IRV2 in the electrical section.
Hopefully, this link will get you to that section:

I had to use one extension wire..I just called Hopkins and they actually sent me two extensions free...shrink tube at the joints.
I used the sticky tape that came with the mount. It hasn't fallen or even moved in almost 2 years now and the truck has been parked in some very hot weather.
I forgot what the red and black wire were for. It's been a while since I installed it. The hardest part was crawling along under our truck on my back. I wanted to run the wire along and inside the driver's side frame rail. The rest of the install was a piece of cake and a fun project.
The 7 pin that they supplied works just fine. It's heavy duty...exactly like the original from GM. - handye9Explorer IIDon't have pics of the install, but, here are pictures of all of the materials, with exception of a few adapters, and a power plug.
For the power plug, I went to Radio Shack and bought a cord for plugging into a power outlet on my dash. Instead of having the camera working while I'm in reverse, I have it running anytime the truck is running. The monitor works just like the rear view mirror.
Here's a picture of the cameras, I used.
Here is a picture of the monitor.
Here is a picture of the type of cables,I used.
I installed cameras on my travel trailer and truck camper, and I have a third camera that I set on the bumper for hitching up. Hitching up alone, is a breeze.
The monitor clips on over my rear view mirror.
On the trailer, I fastened PVC pipe to the underbelly, and run the cable through the pipe.
I wired the truck, trailer, and truck camper seperately. Which ever camper I am using, I just plug the cables together. Same with the hitch up camera.
If you use your camera as I do (while truck is running), mount it up high as you can, and angle it down. If it is mounted low and pointing straight back, you'll get a lot of glare from the sun, or headlights coming up behind you. - TerryallanExplorer II

Here is a video of my rear view camera and install. What you will see is what I followed when I installed mine...the video is generic.

Here is where I mounted the monitor..I just slightly peeled back the headliner and ran the wire across the top and down the driver's side post.
Did you have plenty of wire to get it to the top of the windshield, or did you have to buy the extensions? I think I would like mine up where you put it. Stuck with the tape?
And I guess the 7 pin works as well as it did before?
BTW. What is the little black, and red wire for???? - downtheroadExplorerHere is a video of my rear view camera and install. What you will see is what I followed when I installed mine...the video is generic.
