Hi All.
I use to be an "Water Softner Installer", plus a lot of other things I installed for the same company. I don't know how your water is where you live. Ours isn't the best water either. I solved that one very easily, I installed a whole Hose Water Softner. I fill our "Fresh Water Tank" at home before we ever leave for a trip.
I also have a "Water Softner" for our Motorhomoe also. Make sure when you do a regeneration, that you really rinse the "Water Softer out very well".
It sounds like your not getting you "Water Softner" clean enough, and that's why your getting the lower readings. Also try leaving you "Table Salt" in your Water Softner a little longer.
Ours it just the Water-Stik, was less than $100 dollars. We also use a "Whole House Water Filter" on any wanter we bring on board our Motorhome. You sure can't beat Soft Water, as it does away with water spots on any glass and you also don't have to worry about any Mineral Deposits Building-Up in any of youyr Plumbing.
Good Luck. Dan & Jill & our two Small "Yorkie Kids" who love to travel as much as we do.
