Close. It is watts/12.6 and watts = ac amps times 120 volts.
The result is close enough to 10 X ac amps for government work
When you are talking about a converter, DC amps = AC WATTS/10 is a good rule of thumb. this takes into account wire loss, conversion loss and other losses, and though it is not precise.. it is very close to accurate... For estimating purposes it works very well.
Clay however is very accurate... But he fails to take conversion loss (Inverter effiency) into account. Which is why I use the rule of 10.
Plus it makes the math very easy.
