I had it going on one side only but it didn't last. I was swapping hoses around and with one hose off the red/green so there was just the hole there, and with the lever pointing to that hole, I had the hose on the other side on and onto a closed tank.
I slowly opened the tank and there was a good hiss from the other side hole while it stayed red. Then I turned the lever over to the tank side and it turned green. Hooray. I tried it opposite sides and no joy. I did it a few more times and then it wouldn't do it any more even on the "good" side.
Also I could only get it to work with one of the hoses but it didn't matter which tank. So it seems the Marshall thing is toast and maybe one supply hose.
I swapped everything around I could think of to isolate the problem and get repeatable results and that's where I got to. So now it must be time to throw money at it! :) Oh well.
Thanks for the advice and tips everybody. I did notice a difference when opening slowly (before the Marshall died totally) so that does work for sure.
