I use my 2KW generator all the time to charge my battery bank by using on e of those30A-15A long adapter cables. I plug the trail 30A cable into the adapter and then plug the 15A side of the adapter into the generator 120VAC outlet. Doing this will take three hours of generator run to charge my 255AH battery bank using the PD9260C converter/charger on my trailer. When i do this I make sure i have all of the high wattage circuit breaks OFF so i won't load down the the 2KW generator.

I got my long cable adapter from AMAZON but WALMART caries then as well... I would not use one of those small short adapters as the one I used always started heating up on me before I got the long one from AMAZON...
This adapter would start getting hot on me using it plugged into the 2KW Generator 120VAC socket..

I think this answers your question... Works good for me when I am camping off-Grid
I use large 4AWG cables between my stand-alone PD9260C converter/charger and the main battery switch which is about 5-feet away from the converter/charger unit. My 12VDC Distribution panel is installed in the WFCO Power Distribution Panel with all of the 12VDC fuses and 120VAC Circuit breakers and is paralleled to this connection and is around 12-feet away from the PD9260C in the other direction...
My diagram looks something like this...

I will be upgrading my batteries to look like this in the near future using GC2 6V batteries.

Guess all of this makes sense...
