I'm not seeing this cheap solar except when you buy the equipment yourself. Maybe pay an electrician on the side to install it, I don't know. I've had a couple of quotes relatively recently and they weren't that much cheaper than a few years ago. I have no idea what's driving the market towards solar unless people are leasing it.
The best look at it I got was from a local solar installer,"What you're doing is paying your electric bill for years in advance". That may not fit a lot of lifestyles. I am still planning on doing solar at my house. In my area, there are still some incentives left so it isn't the whole financial crunch of other areas. The last time I looked it was $1.75/watt installed and that is measured at the outgoing meter. One also has to give any energy credits to the utility. The Fed credit is still available, also.
