Removed the Geni today for a full service. Any tips?

So today we removed the geni from the TC & being I know nothing at all about the Previous owners, figure its time to go seriously through it & start my own maintenance records.

& so I wonder if there anything I should make sure to do while it out?

  • I'll add: adjust the valves (if they're adjustable.)
  • You can buy an electric (110VAC) hour meter, that will only run, when the genset is running and generating power. They aren't to expensive. I know they have them at Grainger's, but I'd guess that most lawn Equipment shops would have them too, for the riding mowers, though that one is usually mounted with the spark-plug, not the output of the genset.

It is getting a complete once over with all the details covered & so from this day on I know whats ben done.
being I have no idea of how it was treated before I got it.

& I plan on lots of boon docking so, I need it ready to run.
There will be plenty of middle of the desert trips in the summer heat & I'll want the A/C running.

  • It will get a complete tune up including plugs & wires & maybe even a carb rebuild & no hour meter, I sorta wish it did have one & wonder what it takes to install one?

I'm having a guy I know that knows these geni's go through it for me.
  • Are you going to do the repairs/maintenance yourself, or have it sent out?

Is there an hour meter on this set up? Just wondering how many hours you have, and the year. You would want to see about 50+ hours a year, if the RV is getting used.

At the least, I'd do an oil change, new plug, Fuel Filter, and Air Cleaner. I don't think it's got an oil filter, but if it does, change that too.

Disconnect the fuel line, and get about a gallon of clean gas, with SeaFoam in it, and run it through the engine for as long as it runs.

I'd also check all battery and electric connections (including the ground connection)

    Happy Camping:)
