replace slideout seal using 3M VHB tape ?

anybody use 3M double sided VHB tape to install a new seal
(you know the same stuff some of use to stick solar panel mounts to the roof)
instead of using, tacky adhesive from a tube ?

the question came up today in a conversation i was having with an acquaintance

and since i have a similar up coming chore to do

i though i would ask

  • i just ordered the Eternabond double sided, equivalent
says to use for windows vents etc..

50ft*1" roll off Amazon $34.88, should be here Weds Nov 1st
  • I've used it for RV slide seals, but not my own unit.

There are a few varieties to be aware of. But we actually bought 15' from Menards for $10-15.

From gray to black to foam like to thin clear tape...the 3M exterior rated varieties are excellent for exterior use.
  • yes wiper seal

not all of them, this one 3" total width 5/8 bulb on the top
    No adhesive

do have a 5oz tube (large tube) of 3M adhesive

but seems like the VHB tape would be a less messy and faster option
  • I assume that you are talking about the wiper on the outside of the slide. Although I have never used the VHD for that purpose,I have used it for many other purposes and I am sure that it will work well to attach the wiper. When they say Very High Bond (VHB) they mean it.
