Replacing linoleum in kitchen and bathroom

For the benefit of dpgllg, if you leave the existing vinyl flooring in place and cover it with new flooring, like some of the flexible products mentioned, you WILL see a hump where the old vinyl leaves off and the subfloor begins (like where you removed carpeting). Just to be sure of my information, I just leaned forward and looked at the part of my FW floor where I did the same as dpgllg is suggesting: yep. A hump.

With the help of a ship's carpenter, I laid solid teak flooring in Quicksilver. It seemed to me the fitting of the flooring was the most critical part, but be used base moulding which covered minor boo-boos. Standard flooring cement was used. In the meantime I discovered there are various grades of vinyl for flooring. It would seem prudent to me to learn the differences before choosing.

I'd recommend what lowes has which is made by Shaw flooring. Allure will experience noticeable seam separation especially in colder climates, it uses an adhesive "grip strip" to put the planks together while the lowes flooring is a click lock that you simply slide each piece together. I've installed a lot of allure so I know what I'm talking about. You'll be happier if you keep it in your house and not in your rv. I would add that I would keep the current vinyl you have and not remove it but rather let it act as an underlayment which will dampen sound and vibration, just install your new plank flooring directly over it. A straight edge, a scrap piece of plywood to make cuts on, and a utility knife is all you need. You simply score the flooring with the knife and snap it off.

I removed both the carpet and vinyl floor covering and replaced with Stainmaster plank from Lowes.

I pulled the old linoleum and carpet in my rig and replaced it with Allure (purchased at big box) - lots of threads on this subject as well as YouTube's on how to install. Easy DIY project - not expensive either.
