Replacing water pump

I have to replace my water pump - apparently didn't get it drained fully when winterizing. There was ice in inlet and outlet side when I went to work on it this this past weekend. Ran hot water through to thaw out, hooked it back up and pump will not stop running - with all faucets off and no leaks anywhere I can find. Thinking the diaphragm may be damaged or an airleak somewhere.
All said, we will be out of town for the next two weeks and following week need to use the RV so I will just order a new pump to have and replace when we arrive at destination if need be. I looked at both the Flojet and Shurflo models and like what I read about the Shurflo best.
Question is what about the Artis Power Drive model? That is the pump that came with the RV and has worked well to our satisfaction.
Is the Shurflo just a better pump?
Has anyone had any trouble with the OE Artis Power Drive pump as either OE or replacement?
Had I done a better job winterizing - I would not be looking to replace the Artis OE we currently have.
Both the Shurflo 4008-101-E65 3.0 Revolution & the ARTIS 3.0 GPM - PDS1RV25 Series 1 models are comparably price

Put the one that is exactly what was originally in your RV.

I'll just add that when my water pump went out I called Mobile Repair and they came out with a new standard replacement pump.

After it was installed I didn't like how it worked and it was very loud. My original pump was not loud had high flow demand, low noise and no rapid cycling.

Long story short. We found out that my particular MH had the better water pump installed from the factory. The average and most commonly used water pump is around 65.00 bucks which is the model repair guy brought out.

Upon further inspection of the label on the factory installed pump showed that it was rated higher and the exact replacement of that pump would have been over $200 bucks. They looked the same on the outside but are not.

Since it was already in and I was 400 miles down the road when I noticed the difference it's till in the MH.

If you were happy with the OE pump get the same exact replacement.
  • I have a shurflo and have replaced the pump once and installed the valve area twice due to water coming back from the line past the pump, filling the tank then overflowing through the water input for the tank. I have had no problem getting the pumps to prime except only with one of them. I had finally installed a shut off valve directly after the pump so water does not flow past the pump filling the tank when not in use. I tried a check valve one time and it failed. No matter what type of pump you choose, I think the shut off valve installed after the pump will act as a good safety. Then when you plan to use the pump, just open it.
  • Contact Artist and see if they offer a replacement pump head. Might be cost effective.

    I ditto this advice.
