We have a galvanized flat bed trailer with a plywood deck. Re-decked it with marine grade plywood about 10 years ago and it sits outside in moist SE Texas air about 20 miles from the gulf. Originally tried coating the deck with Duplicolor Bed Liner and it began to shed the bedliner coating after sevaral months. Scaped it down, primed the wood (unfortunately don't remember what we applied for a primer but was a marine grade product) and then applied Herculiner. The first coating of Herculiner lasted about 7 years and was finally starting to wear thin. Recoated directly over the Herculiner with another coat of the same about 3 years ago and still looks great.
Can't really say whether the Duplicolor product would have worked better with the primer, but I like the rougher texture of the Herculiner. Keep in mind it is still a wood deck and can be damaged if you drag something sharp across it.
