I've had mine for about 20 years. My 1st needed rebuild was at the 3 year mark. All the joint fittings, nuts & bolts are available on E-Bay or from the manufacturer & very simple to replace. Every 3 years or so, the arms become difficult to slide in or out. The problem is the rubber bushings inside become swollen. They must be replaced. Call the company, they'll send you new ones no cost. Easy to replace.
I agree tho, an $800 item should have a much better life span & warranty.:(
BTW; My tow bar was advertised as weighing 28 lbs. It weights 45 lbs.
Just always wondered about that. lol:h
