Roof repair standard practice question

While pulling our 2017 TT down our alley the other day the fixed mount TV antenna encountered a low hanging telephone line caused by a neighbor's siding contractor detaching the line from the normal house attachment. I heard an unusual noise and stopped to investigate. The line pulled the antenna mount screws out of the roof decking and tore the rubber roof as the antenna was now mangled and laying on its side. I called our dealer's service department and the manager indicated that the whole rubber roof would require replacement. Is this standard practice and are insurance companies ok with this?

  • Amazing when it's the customers wallet the whole thing needs repair but if it was a warranty item the easiest and cheapest way would be performed.
Without seeing it we could only guess for a repair but the way you described it cleaning it up good, repair with eternabond tape and reattach the new antenna.
  • Rubber roofs are one piece, so yes, this would be the standard repair. However, and depending on how big the tear is, eternabond tape could make a suitable, permanent fix for less than 50 dollars.
