You will have a marginal refer. The refers NEED ventilation regardless of 120 or LP. This topic comes up a few times a year.
1. If on 120, you do not have to be level--WRONG! ALL RV absorbsion refers must be level regardless of LP or 120
2. Ventilation is a MUST. If the roof top vent is covered or the side vent(installed in a slide out), then the refer will be ruined in less than 48 hours. It is called "baking" a cooling unit, when the ventilation is blocked off.
3. SAME thing if you try to run the Roof AC unit. Do you think the roof AC unit will operate correctly with a cover over the whole RV? Then why would you think the refer is not affected too? Of course the odds are the roof AC will not be ruined, it will just kick the overload on the compressor or the 20 amp breaker. But it WILL ruin your Refer. Doug- Golden_HVACExplorerWhy do you need to cover it?
I would not run it on gas. You might be OK on electric, however the heat output is only about 40% on electric - compared to running on gas.
I have never covered my motorhome, it is waterproof.
Fred. - We_Cant_WaitExplorerWHY do you need to keep the fridge on if you cover the unit? With the cover on it's a real pain to get inside to get at the fridge. Do you plan on storing stuff in the freezer all winter?
- azdryheatExplorerMy fridge is on AC at the house and I do cover it with an ADCO cover.
- ScottGNomadAbsolutely not.
If you got lucky and it didn't burn, it would probably destroy the fridge. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIOK to use cover....just cut a great big hole in it over fridge vent(s)
Otherwise turn fridge OFF - BuckBarkerExplorerNO!
- nomad297ExplorerBad idea.
Bruce - Ron3rdExplorer IIINot sure if it would hurt anything, but heat comes out the top and you're supposed to have good air flow, so I would say it's not a good idea. BTW, I left my fridge on once for about a week by mistake when the trailer was covered and it did not hurt anything.
- Wayne_DohnalExplorerIf either of the fridge air intake our outlet is covered, I'd vote 'no'.
