Electric heating appliances are almost always more expensive to run than gas:
EXCEPT: When buying gas in small quantities. At BJ's 30 Lbs of propane cost me about $20, at that price it's about a wash with electric (but less convenient). OP's cost of $30 for 30 Lbs makes gas more expensive for him. Getting the exchange 15 Lbs cylinders would be even worse(can you spell rip-off).
