Running Yamaha 3000iSEB without battery - OK?

Has anyone with a Yamaha 3000iSEB generator run it without a battery, and did it cause any problems? I have this generator and the battery has gone bad. I don't need the boost capability so I'm fine without the battery, but want to be sure it won't hurt anything before I run it that way.
  • Tape the positive terminal that goes on the battery so it doesn't touch any metal "ground" ( AFAIK those leads are "live" when the gen is running as the way to recharge the gen's battery.) I ran my Honda 3000 for years with no battery in it. Just used the pull cord.
  • Leave the bat in same as Honda 3000. It won't hurt anything.
  • What does the owner's booklet say about this issue?
