Rushing yourself hurts

Was in a rush when I got home from work tonight and while installing the battery from batt charger I reversed the cables ( I was on the work cell talking and not paying attention) NO excuse....just dumb! I hooked to the truck and pulled over to my driveway.

Anyway, I washed the TT and then entered the TT to find "some" lights worked and the stove worked on gas, but I had no power to fridge. Played with it and had nothing. Ran extension cord from house to TT and still no power to fridge and " some lights.

Checked fuses and found two blown 40 amp fuses and one blown 15 amp.

Thought about the battery and reopened the batt box to find the reversed cables.

I corrected that and replaced the fuses. The 15 amp is marked TV booster, but the two 40 amp fuses are unmarked. Everything "seems to be working" at this time. Fridge light is on and I'm waiting to make sure it gets cold.

AC fan runs ( cant check AC ) at this time.

Anything I should be checking on?
  • "Measure twice and cut once" !
In my case it is measure three or four time and then cut once and if I am lucky I won't have transposed 36 with 63!

  • If you want to keep the converter, you might want to contact the manufacturer for ideas. It may be reparable. If not, it certainly is replaceable.
  • Wow, were you lucky. A coworker of mine did that about 6 years ago and blew out everything in his (at the time) recently purchased Jayco. Very expensive.
  • Yes, lucky I was was.....I think! I was able to work on the converter not working issue today. It was driving me crazy and I did allot of Internet research. I had power at the fuse panel, I had power at the converter, and still not charging the battery!

Well, after hours and hours of checking fuses, battery, connections.......I layed on the floor at the fuse / converter panel and noticed the two "new" 40 amp reverse polarity fuses were slightly out. I pushed them in.........plugged in the 120 and guess what?? The converter fan kicked on !

My TT monitor which had been showing my new battery at 3/4 immediately showed a full charge ( my multi meter had been reading a full charge).

My issue now is the converter fan has been running not stop for hours with no real drawl??? It had not done this prior to my boneheaded actions!
