RV Armor

If the rest of the roof is still in good shape, why not just patch it with a piece of rubber roofing and dicor. The size of the patch isn't an issue.

I've done several that way. My neighbor hung his as he backed it into his rv port. It had the aluminum radiused edge and damaged about 2' by 10". I straightened the radiused aluminum edge as best I could, coated the area with acrylic cement and placed a rubber patch on it. I coated the edges of the patch with Dicor self-leveling caulk and it's been on there about 5 years with no problems.

As for appearance, most don't notice, it blends in well.

I had RV FlexArmor, RV Flex Armor, installed on my 5'er 2 1/2 years ago. It is sprayed on in an interior environment. I would do it again and this time to a brand new rig vs waiting for a rubber roof/caulking failure which "will occur".

My insurance policy covered my roof - with a $500 or so deductible I believe. That was a couple years ago now but I do remember pricing for the replacement roof, and it actually came in less than the conventional roof, so the insurance company agreed to it. In retrospect, we're kind of glad it happened, because the new roof is so much nicer. On the other hand, that claim did cause our premiums to go up a bit.

We have RV FlexArmor... looked at RV Armor when we had ours done but FlexArmor was clearly the superior product. I don't recall exactly why, but that was my takeaway.

I would tape it and forget it for a quick fix but if you have the time and money it looks good. There are a few videos of people doing it themselves if you handy.

Go to www.rv-dreams.com they had their 5th wheel roof replaced with an "armor" coating product two years ago. They were very happy with it.
