When you buying a 28yr old unit impacts the manufacturers bottom line, they will change to make you happy.
Don't get me wrong, I buy used also. I just am realistic that it's not a selling point that will ever gain traction with the manufacturers.
The $5k resale value on a $50k unit doesn't really factor in for the new buyer anyway or they would have been buying used in the first place.
If you really want that perfect unit with no corners cut, go get a custom built unit but bring a wallet thick enough to cover 3-4 of the units that currently last 20-30yrs.
