Yes the Amish units are great. I did not go with one of those. I put in a re-manufactured unit that had a 3 year warranty, same duration as the Amish unit, but about half the price.
I am posting because there is not a lot of info on fridges or cooling unit actual repair that I was able to find when I was looking. I had to piece together the info on my own.
Sorry to hear that, when the cooling unit failed in our first 5er an 86 King of the Road, the cabinet was in great shape, and I had time to do research. Called the company below and had a talk with the owner, discussed the advantages of Amish units. Amish don't use electricity, the only cooling they use is absorption, they are experts. I bought a rebuilt unit and was truly impressed with it my Norcold with a four position temp control never wnet above #1 of four settings.
