I say not a problem.
If this were installed under article 551 for RVs, the NEC does not require simultaneous demand loads of 30 and 20 amp recept. to be included in sizing wire to a pedestal and a pedestal "panel" doesn't require a main breaker in it.
Thanks this is the info I was looking for. Adding a ground rod is no big deal, and I'm aware of no neutral/ground bonding. I really just want the 30a breaker to allow me to plug in before I power up. I may add a green "power on" led or similar to show when the power is on to the 30a circuit.

Why not just use the exterior 20A receptacle on your RV for your "convenience receptacle"?
I could, but the way I have to back the RV into the yard, the door side (also the receptacle side) is facing the side fence, while the power pole is at the left rear corner of the TT against the back fence. Having an outlet on the pole lets me avoid having to run a cord under the trailer.
Same on the disconnect, I could throw the main in the TT before I plug in, then go back inside the TT to power on, but it's just one more thing to do when unpacking after a trip.
The only time we run the a/c is when we use the TT as guest quarters, which is maybe once a year...the rest of the time the only thing running is the converter and the fridge, and not even that in the winter time.
