I'm going to park my RV behind a fence along side my house on what is now part of my lawn. The entire lawn is irrigated and I will remove some sprinklers, redirect some and add some so that the RV won't get watered but the remaining lawn will.I don't want to pour a slab. I was thinking of some sort of edging and filling in the space with gravel. I don't know if you've seen those woven rubber tree rings that Walmart and others sell. I'd love to use that material just rolled out over the existing lawn but it's $10 a square foot and I need to do about 200 ft.Any other ideas or have I exhausted them all? TIA,Eric

A few concrete pavers placed at the wheel locations will be the cheapest alternative. The lawn underneath the trailer will gradually die out from lack of sun.

I would just remove all the grass and block off the sprinklers to the area and bring in Gravel. Other option would be to just pour 4 separate cement pads large enough for the tires and landing gear.

My first pad was 5/8 minus gravel, with pavers under where tires sat. Then I put a plastic pad between concrete paver and tires.

You want to keep the area under the trailer as dry as possible especially where the wheels will set.

I would suggest that drainage is a serious issue. You want to create a slope that will drain the pad well.

I thought about that stuff but I don't how you make grass grow under a MH with no watering or sunlight.

If you want the grass look

The in-laws when they were living, had a house at the lake for the summer months. They had a Bounder MH. The Father-in-law placed cinder blocks in the ground and filled the centers with dirt. A pad for each tire was made. This was his parking pad for many years.

I think I wanna do the rubber mat. I just didn't want to be the first one on my block or the guinea pig. I was hoping someone else had already tried it. I'll report back in a couple of months on how this worked out. Thanks, all.

Yeah, Roundup only kills what has grown there. Next week your back at it again. I have some ground killer on one gravel spot between two slabs of concrete. No chance of leaching then. Have a friend that used ground killer and it leached under his fence. Insurance company bought some very expensive pine trees.

My previous entire lawn was a typical Arizona lawn-- 1" minus granite. I parked mine on it for several years. On one side I screwed two 2X8 together with beveled ends. This was for leveling only. The other two tires were always on the granite with no detrimental effect. I used lawn and week killer to keep weeds and grass under control.

Personally I couldn't afford that much concrete. I do know all the gravel around my place is harder to keep up with than the grass. Even with material under it dirt blows and weeds grow in or grass creeps in and it takes a lot of weed work eventually. However I envy your problem as I can't park My RV by my house.

Railway ties have traditionally been treated with creosote. Creosote is an environmental disaster. Creosote leaches to the surrounding area and will kill vegetation.

Sounds just like what I did. Later we removed some 6x6 landscape timbers so I laid them inside and flush with the 2x6. I needed to get rid of the timbers so I thought that was a good use for them.

Everybody mentions gravel, not sure exactly what type of stone/rock you're referring to. I had a load of crushed rock dumped on the pad. Crushed rock is very stable once it's laid down. Smaller gravel/stone will shift around under the weight of a motorhome.
