Ok...I am a beginner RV buyer, so I thought I had checked everything on zoning laws about having the travel trailer parked on my son's rental house property, but now found out that I need a "continuous concrete pad". Please don't send me messages about "Well you should have done this or you should have done that", because I know I messed up and I am trying to fix the situation the best I can. I am looking into ordering a Pre-cast concrete pad so that it won't be permanent and I can just break it into pieces and remove it, if they ever move, I will then just have to fix the grass underneath...has anybody ever done anything like this before? What is the price? What are any pitfalls? I need a 16x10 pad.

You will not be able to get that "pre-cast" all in one piece.....unless maybe you pay a TON of money for it; would have to be set with a crane."Continuous" does not mean without seams though and you might do it in sections.The ONLY way I would do this is get written permission of the property owner that includes LEAVING IT IN PLACE if you stop using it for any reason. And then pay a concrete contractor to pour it.

First thing I would find out is the local jurisdiction's definition of what a "continuous concrete pad" is. If 2'x 2'x 2" concrete pavers are acceptable, then I would put them down. About 40 total at that size.

You need to check with the local authority. They will have the correct answer.A 'continuous concrete pad' may mean a continuously steel reinforced concrete pad. Meaning it needs rebar.

Maybe I'm missing something... Why do you need a concrete pad to park on? Park on the grass so no permit needed. If it's not to park on but for a patio area... build a wooden deck with screws that you take apart when he moves.

Just curious... why your son's house he is renting instead of your own? Do you own your property? Are you in a HOA that doesn't allow it? If I had to park mine elsewhere instead of here at my house I would think twice before buying an RV or I would relocate.

Well, just a wee bit off topic....lol.

Other than Homie Depot pavers, "precast" concrete panels? Are not really used in residential world and rarely used for slab on grade applications in heavy civil or commercial construction. Only app I can think of off the top of my head is precast railroad Xings, to save time shutting down a busy street or highway.
Bottom line any precast panel you'd have fabricated would not be cost effective.

Tenant/landlord/zoning issues aside, you basically have 3 options for a continuous is hard surface. Gravel (or any variant of recycled materials), asphalt or poured in place concrete.

True, but large, specific security deposits are similar to unicorns, people talk about them, but they seldom materialize.

if he really wants the pad and the owner insists on a separate deposit, that unicorn just became a plow mule.

OK, Why not try the obvious and ask the owner if he is interested in installing the pad? Very unlikely until you explain the benefits to him and suggest some compensation and your willingness to help. :B

Why don't you check with the city zoning and ask for addresses to see how others are complying with this type of situation? Maybe that will point you in the right direction. I would not order a large slab unless I knew for certain that it would meet the codes.
