RV type refer technology is over 120 years old. The MAIN thing is to have 1 inch of space between the back wall of the lower section to allow air to flow up and thru the silver metal evaporator fins. This happens by convection and requires no extra fan. BUT, a small refer designed battery fan helps a lot. DO NOT jam the lower section with plastic bags full of food and push against the back wall. The way the refer works is simple. Warm air from the food flows up and goes thru the silver fins and this removes the heat, hence cold results. The cold then flows down and removes the heat from the food and the up again. Try to NEVER install warm/hot food in the refer. This causes it to try for a long time. It is not as quick as a compressor home style refer. The freezer has NO restrictions on air flow. The temp control for the refer does not control the freezer. It will get 0 to 10 degrees regardless of the temp setting. ALWAYS try to precool the refer 24 hours before you put items in it. NEVER RUN THE REFER(rv) OFF LEVEL UNLESS YOU ARE MOVING. THIS WILL RUIN A RV REFER. READ THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR YOUR REFER AND IT WILL DETAIL WHY AND LEVEL PROCEDURES. IF OFF LEVEL BESIDES RUINING THE REFER, IT WILL NOT COOL. Do you have the manual for the refer? This is from the norcold manual. Doug
CAUTION: The refrigerator is made to operate within 3°
off level side-to-side and 6° off level front-to-back (as
looking at the front of the refrigerator). Operating it at
more than these limits can cause damage to the cooling
system and create a risk of personal injury or property
damage. Make sure the vehicle is level before you
operate the refrigerator
