RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

We’ve been having issues with our new TT Norcold refrigerator not keeping things cold, quit working and warming up. I’ve been watching a few YouTube videos. These new RV refrigerators are ‘gas/electric, absorption’ refrigerators, they can’t be filled full, some ppl have set a mini fan blowing inside on the fans. Teach me about these. What’s the best way to keep these cold, first off is making sure the TT is level? What about starting off on propane, I heard propane keeps it colder? Most of the time we put a bunch of beverages in the refrigerator to get cold, Should we be putting beverages in the outside refrigerator to keep cold? Thank you in advance
  • If you gave some specifics you will have better luck at getting some info to help..

Such as ... year/make/model of RV
Fridge info... Norcold what? perhaps a 2118, etc
The fridge will cool just fine full if it works right
Door seal gap would be first thing to check with a dollar bill.. With door closed and a dollar bill in between door seal if it pulls out easily when checked at various locations on the seal you need to adress that issue first
  • You should not be having issues with your new TT Norcold refrigerator not keeping things cold, quit working and warming up. I would suggest that you get it to a certified rv repair shop for warranty repair.
  • By far for the best performance, especially in hot weather, replace the refrigerator with a compressor type. There are even places that will retro-fit a compressor on to your existing refrigerator.

Guaranteed cold beverages and ice !
  • RV absorption refrigerators are hardly new. There are hundreds of posts on the forum about them (in addition to the YouTube videos you've mentioned). Use the search function on the forum and keep reading/researching.
