SeaFlo water pump

I have 2023 Montana high country 77 FL. Had it winterized last season professionally, this season a diff company came out, while doing the winterizing, they found water damage under the front slide to the OSB. We immediately took our unit to their facility, upon further inspection, they found water damage by the inside steps, in the kitchen area.. and found that the SeaFlo pump had been leaking for quite sum time. Our insurance won’t cover the damage, I’ve contacted keystone, about this, they agreed to cover the slide issue. But not the damage done by the pump. I have an extended warranty with Easy Care… But their no help either, estimate to fix it 11K…. Any one else have problems of the same nature????? And how did you get this resolved????

  • Why won't the insurance cover it? I understand why the factory warranty and the extended warranty wouldn't.  I feel like a water pump leaking that bad would have been noticeable at some point. And despite winterization I have had the little clear sediment covers on them crack anyway in below freezing temps.

  • Have you physically inspected  the damage caused by the SeaFlow pump? Everything could be on the up and up with this company. But they way your post is written and the cost of the repair I worry you are potentially getting scammed. You might want to get a second opinion from a different shop. Or possibly call a mobile RV repair guy and pay them for an hour of their time to inspect the damage and see if all the damage they shop wants to repair actually needs to be repaired. Or is much of the damage actually just water staining that you can leave alone once the area dries out.

We have had our insurance company, send an inspector out, as well as the RV repair facility looking at it. Our insurance company refuses to pay, We had ZERO knowledge that this damage was occurring.. I am extremely OCD about my stuff. There was no indication of water on the floors, etc… $1000 for parts/materials… $200 an Hour for labor at 20 hours to fix the unit.. I have seen a lot of posts on RV forums concerning issues with water pumps, (and yet).. No company seems to be liable for damages incurred…

I think if you could prove a defect in the pump they might cover it although not likely. What sort of complaints are you seeing on other forums? I have had sureflo pumps in all my Rvs going back more than a decade and other than having a screen cover freeze (not a manufacture default) never had an issue. It would have to be some internal o ring or crack in the housing not caused by freezing. Trying to prove that is almost impossible. Any connection, or cracked line as a result of poor workmanship or freezing would not be sureflo's problem. Not defending them I just think your focus should be placed elsewhere. Like, did the original winterization company actually do it properly?  Is there really that much damage and it requires that much work? Your response said the insurance company came out and would not pay, but you still haven't answered why they won't pay. For that much damage to occur it would have to be under pressure with a full tank of water. If you are camping wouldn't you have noticed water running underneath your rig and/or your water pump continually running? In other words, it wouldn't happen in storage and winterized. The system isn't pressurized and the fresh water tank would be empty. So, it would have to happen when you are using it. And that much water would be noticeably raining under the RV. That just seems like an awful lot of damage for a leaking water pump not to notice. A more likely scenario is you have a window or roof leak. Which depending on your coverage may be on you if you can't evidence periodic sealing of all seams and penetrations. Unless you see an actual leak in a line around your water pump, I think the root of your damage is another problem.  I understand your frustration, but you need to look at several possible reasons for all this water damage.  And why is Keystone covering the slide portion? That seems weird unless they noticed a seam, window, or roof leak/defect. And if they covered that, why not the rest of the flooring? I feel like there is more to this story.

Reminds of something this summer. While in an RV park our neighbor in his 45 ft anthem pusher was parked beside us. It was raining water under his RV. So much so that it was causing puddles in the neighboring sites. He had a leak in his aquahot. I brought it to his attention. How in the world he didn't notice water raining out of his bins and his site filling up is way beyond a head scratcher. I can't imagine the damage but I bet it's similar to yours.

  • Hello, our insurance won’t cover the water damage, because there is an exclusionary clause in the policy, about water seepage, etc. The roof was checked for leaks, and yes it is strange that keystone only covered the slides. However they said (that was still under structural warranty). We never had any noise, etc coming from the pump, and no flooding on the underbelly of the 5th wheel…The pump was installed horizontally on the floor. There is evidence of what looks like residue on the pump head, from pics sent to us from RV repair facility. We had the unit professionally winterized by Bishs, in 2023. And this year a diff company (that noticed) the water damage. I sent a very diplomatic letter to SeaFlo, they asked for pics, serial number, pics of the damage… (the next email, said the pump can only handle 30 psi incoming pressure, anything over that… It will leak as stated in their manual… And they also said… Sorry for your inconvience, but SeaFlo will not pay for (labor/ damages done to my unit)…I emailed them back,  asked for a manual, took 4 days to respond…. Again they referenced in the manual…incoming pressure at 30 psi. However, the paragraph also referenced (try to avoid any pressure completely???).. Obviously I don’t much about all this, thus why I’m posting here. However, I’ve read on other forums, peeps have had these pumps leak…
