- landyacht318ExplorerOne of the Black and decker chargers with 1093 in the part number is well respected by Some of the members on this forum.
They are known to have fan issues, but should be a good garage charger, and can assist whatever converter you have or acquire to get that last 3 to 10% into the battery after most converters declare "good enough" and quit. - JeepCBExplorerOK thanks will do. Just got new to me 5er, and I have no idea what kind of converter it has. It's got only one battery and that is barely alive. I will post up when I know what I want to do for a whole system(dual batts, solar, inverter). I am looking for a new battery charger for the garage anyway.

I recommend a replacement converter over portable battery charging.
Gentlemen,
I think what I am doing is calling hijacking....? But I can't resist, I read the things you guys post and learn a great deal(I always get lost after a while), so thank you in advance.
I need to ask...brand and model of a good battery charger that will charge my batteries the way you guys do? I am not tech savy so I can't Frankenstein one. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Billy

Start a new thread (no cost!) with what you have now and what you expect.
Current converter, generator, how many batteries, charging wire size and length.- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerJeepCB, the way the system is supposed to work is to design things to your very own unique needs and wants. Describe your system. Is it big enough battery wise? How do you use it (in detail - details really help).
Basically the fundamentals are to find out what kind of converter you already have then come up with something that covers the converter's weak areas. A patch. A band-aid.
A lot of what you read here is hobby-time perfectionism. Don't let it intimidate you, please. Leave Franky upstairs strapped to the gurney. What you need is simplicity incarnate.
Provide your "Is" details and you'll get lots of good old fashioned understandable help. - JeepCBExplorerGentlemen,

Sooo I will need some sort of heatsink with that diode. Good to know!
Anyway, the shottkey rectifier is now mounted to a 3" X 7" 16 ga aluminum plate. - pianotunaNomad III
- landyacht318ExplorerBorg charger. :)
Mex I wish you had a good camera and a fast internet connection for when that electronic laden burro arrives and Dr Frankenstein decides to sniff more solder.
I might have to get that dc to dc converter for if the sun fails provide the 6 amps required to get my 31 upto 16v.
Quit spending my money dammit! - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerAha! Says honorable Charlie Chan...

Big-noses going to re-invent wheel and improve product. One of my improvements is a two dollar bi-directional 180 volt avalanche rectifier that solders any-old-way across the incoming neutral and phase input. Say goodbye to transients and component degradation - this is a PIECE OF CAKE installation since the connectors are exposed.
A .47uf 100 V electrolytic across the output potential should tame some of the ripple.
I was working on my case fabrication until I dropped a glob of molten solder on my big toe. how was I to know I was going to sneeze. Anyway, the shottkey rectifier is now mounted to a 3" X 7" 16 ga aluminum plate. Plastic standoffs to be used to hang from the inside of the roof of the monster.
Next step: Finding that dratted DPDT 26 amp rocker switch. Then a dedicated LED meter and ON-ON switch to select between the 2 outputs to balance the voltages. The finals ammeter - voltmeter is coming next week by burro. Four hour spring wound Intermatic Timer. Relay to NC the float charger. Lots of room for a third CHEAPOWATT. The 300 watt DC to DC converter goes in, set to 16.0 volts. This thing could equalize Mena's L-16's and not even stop yawning. Did I mention the piezo squawker? When the intermatic timer goes to zero a Radio Shack grade doorway greeter is fed from a 1,500 uf cap. Should be good for a dozen annoying electronic ding-dongs.
Ammobox charger never did have any life to the name.
Naw!
This thing....well, it's, it's a...........
BORG CHARGER - landyacht318ExplorerCool, looking forward to it Mena.
My camera is a Canon EOS t5i with the kit provided lens, so as far as high end dslr cameras go it is far from the top. I do have some magnifying filters that screw onto the end of the lens, but these only assist the lens. A true macro lens is far superior. My old P&S camera9 a640)took amazing macro photos as it could focus on an object a half inch in front of the lens. It still works but the flash does not 90% of the time.
Most of my pics were using the flash too and high iso numbers, while handheld. Better results would occur with smaller apertures, better lighting, no flash and longer shutter speeds.
There are some reviews on the cheapowatt that say the fan speed is variable but not on the 22$ version, only the 25$ break the bank version.
Etopxizu has 3 different Amazon listings for a 30 amp power supply. I do not know if there are actually differences between them.
The one I bought just got 35 cents cheaper too!
A new clone has popped up too, or one I had just not noticed before:

I can see there are two different fan 'grille' shapes. Your Pic mena, and the shape of the clone i got are different, but the one shown in the amazon ad for the one I got is the same as yours. yours has more open surface area and less restriction.
I'd really enjoy seeing the internals on yours. The fan model too. I am disappointed i could not find the specs on the longchang fan which came with mine, but I think it is around 25 CFM. It also draws 0.03 more amps than the sticker proclaims.
