If the cord is used while coiled up it will over-heat. You need to stretch it out. 23 amps should not cause the cord to heat up noticeably at all. It's relatively straight forward to upgrade to a 50 amp service, but not inexpensive. The cord alone can be a couple of hundred dollars depending on how long you need.

Thanks Brian, I was thinking of upgrading the cord just to be on the safe side. But I don't have an automatic transfer so i would assume i would have to replace the cord to the breaker box and then replace the cord from the generator out to the plug in receptacle in the compartment. Would this have any affect on the on board EMS system or is that stand alone?
