shorted out 12 volt system

I contacted chasis with wrench while tightening battery terminal and sparks flew. The 12 volt system is not working now as a result.Trying to figure out how to fix. 2005 Fleetwood providence 39L. Any suggestions as to figure out what to do

  • I see no reason why anything would blow, except the battery. You did not over draw amperage thru anything, except the battery. Unless of course, the whole story is not been told :)
  • When you say the 12V system, do you mean the chassis or the RV side? If you mean the chassis then you probably blew a fuseable link.

You may have at least three blown fuses.

One is located very close to the battery terminal and on the older trailers is an IN-LINE fuse. The newer trailer sometimes use a resetable in-line circuit breaker here.

There are two other fuses located on the 12VDC Power Distribution Panle labeled REVERSE POLARITY on my panel.

This is the location of my two reverse polarity fuses. These two 12VDC plu-in fuses are located in the center of the 12VDC fuse panel and are sitting by themself...

  • First, check battery. Second, battery wiring. Third, all fuses.
