Should I remove the accumulator?

So it's time to replace my 13 year old water pump. I have a small accumulator in the system. The new pump, a Shurflo 4008 by-pass pump states,"no need for an accumulator." Does this mean an accumulator is now a bad thing, and I should remove it? Does it mean it will be worthless, and I'll get no value from it? Should I remove it?
  • My 5er came with a 4008 water pump, and I ended up adding an accumulator tank, pipe insulation and flexible hoses to the system to help with the noise. The pump doesn't run anywhere near as smooth as the marketing would have you think. I'd definitely keep the tank.
  • Is not that blurb to hype the fact that a buyer need not spend extra money on an accumulator if they do not have one? Myself, I cannot imagine removing a pulse "shock absorber" to be of any benefit.
  • The accumulator reduces the pump cycling on and off.
Leaving it in won't hurt anything.
